Ross Perot was an American former politician who was now a business magnate. He was best known as the founder of Electronic Data Systems and had run for the presidency of the United States twice. Perot was a presidential candidate in 1992 as an independent and 1996 with a third party. Ross founded his Electronic Data Systems, which was a data processing Service Company in 1962.
Henry Ross Perot was born in 1930 on 27 June to Lula May Perot and Gabriel Ross Perot. He was born in Texarkana, Texas. His father was a commodity broker who specialized in cotton contracts.
Perot attended a private school by the name Patty Hill. He later joined Texas High School, situated in Texarkana in 1947. Between 1947 and 1949, Ross studied at Texarkana junior college. After that, he joined the US Naval academy.
Perot married Margret Birmingham in 1986. She hails from Greensburg, Pennsylvania. The couple had five children, namely Nancy, Carolyn, Ross Jr, Suzanne, and Katherin.
Perot became IBM’S salesman immediately after he left the Navy in the year 1957. He decided to quit the job in 1962. That was when Ross founded Electronic Data Systems company in Dallas, Texas. It was not until trying for 77 times that he got his first contract. Perot got one with the government of the United States to computerize Medicare records during the 1960s.
The company sold control interests worth $2.4 billion to General Motors more than two decades later. He was also an angel investor in a company called NEXT, founded by Steve Jobs. This was after he lost the first power struggle at Apple. Ross invested $20 million.
Ross founded Perot Systems Corporation Inc. It’s located in Plano, Texas. His successor as the Chief Executive Officer was his son Ross Perot Jr. The company was sold to Dell in September 2009.

Over the years, Ross Perot had received a lot of awards. In 1986, he got his very first one, which was S Roger Horchow Award for the Greatest Public Service. Two years later, in 1988, he was inducted into the Junior Achievement U. S. Business Hall of Fame.
In 2009, he was accorded Sylvanus Thayer Award by the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The Command and General Staff College Foundation presented him with the Distinguished Leadership Award in 2010. In that same year, Perot was given the William J. Donovan.
