MC Hammer Net Worth

Stanley was born on March 30, 1962, in Oakland, California. He comes from humble origins, brought up by his mother in a tiny house with seven other siblings.

He was called MC because he used to be the Master of Ceremonies when he used to travel with the Oakland A’s. He did not go through with his college education and instead joined the United States Army where he served for three years before being honorably discharged.

Kirk married his wife Stephanie in 1985, and they have been together ever since.

They have five children together, Bobby, Jeremiah, Sammy, Sarah, and A’keiba.

In 1996, Hammer had to apply for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy because of a lavish lifestyle that caused the enormous debt. He was, however, denied a bankruptcy discharge in 2002.

It was in the mid-1980s that Hammer started his own record label business, Bust It Productions. It eventually evolved into Bustin’ Records, a label that had over 100 employees, and of which he became the CEO. His debut album, Feel My Power, spawned quite a few hit singles.

After much success, he eventually signed a deal with Capitol Records. With them, he revamped his debut album by adding more tracks and again enjoyed multiplatinum success.

In 1990, he released the album, Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em. It stayed in the top spots on the charts for 21 weeks. This album was more successful than the previous ones, and it resulted in extensive tours for Hammer as well as its own movie, Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em: The Movie.

In 1991, he released, Too Legit to Quit. It was a response to all his haters and also the first album he released after dropping the MC from his name.

At this time, he released many music videos, one of them being, “2 Legit 2 Quit”, which is regarded as one of the most expensive videos ever made.

Hammer took a couple of years off the entertainment industry and came back when he signed a new deal with Giant records.

He released his next album, titled, The Funky Headhunter in 1994.

His 1995 album, V Inside Out was not received well by audiences.

Between 1996-1998, Hammer released multiple albums that recalled his previous hits.

In 1998, he released the Family Affair, which targeted a more gospel friendly audience.

In 2000-2001, he released two more albums, The Hits, and Active Duty.

2004 saw the release of Full Blast which was again a failure with the audiences.

He released an independent album, Look Look Look in 2006.

Since 2010, he has been releasing some singles.

Hammer has also dabbled in acting both in movies and television as well as dance choreography.

Awards and Achievements

In 1991, Hammer won a Grammy Award for his music video in the movie, Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em: The Movie.

He had also won a VMA for best rap video in 1990.

Net Worth of MC Hammer

Stanley has a net worth of $2 million. He had previously had a higher net worth but lost his fortunes due to a lavish lifestyle.

MC Hammer could never recover the popularity that he had gained in the 1980s. He tried hard to reinvent himself and get back that level of fame, but the success has eluded him in the present times. However, his hits are still remembered.
