International Humane Studies Postdoctoral Conference Accelerator Fellowships in USA

To give hardworking students an opportunity for innovative career preparation, the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University is delighted to announce the Humane Studies Postdoctoral Conference Accelerator Fellowships. The university is accepting applications for the academic session 2022-2023.

Humane Studies Conference Accelerator Grants are designed for a postdoctoral fellowship. These grants provide $2,000 to support the work of developing a paper into a conference presentation.

Founded by F. A. “Baldy” Harper in 1961, the organization later began an association with George Mason University and in 1985 and The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) is a libertarian non-profit organization that engages with students and professors throughout the United States. IHS offers educational and career programs hold seminars and on-campus programs for university students, awards scholarships, provides mentoring and research grants for aspiring professors and sponsors a collection of online videos.

Application Deadline:  Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We suggest that you apply no later than April 15 if you seek a grant for summer funding. Applicants will be notified of their award within eight weeks of submission.

  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Applicants for Humane Studies Fellowship awards undertaking a post-doctoral fellowship.
  • The fellowship is open to students and postdocs at any university. International students are eligible; however, preference is given to applicants who live or study in North America or the United Kingdom.

  • How to Apply: Students must first apply for admission to the university of their choice via its application process. Applicants must complete and submit a Scholarship application form to be considered for this award.
  • Supporting Documents: Applications must include: Essay explaining your research agenda and how you plan to use the funding, as well as details on current or prospective research
  • CV and transcript from a current or most recent institution
  • Recent writing sample of 3,000 words or fewer
  • Dissertation proposal document (if applicable)
  • One letter of recommendation is due one week after the application is submitted.
  • Admission Requirements: Candidates must hold a first-class honors undergraduate degree or Submit proof of academic conference participation within six months of the award date
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must meet the necessary language proficiency requirements of the institution.


The successful candidates will receive $2,000 for their studies at George Mason University in the USA.
